We are devastated that our landlord, Borde Hill, has given us notice to vacate in order to turn the Gallery building into office space for its staff.
So, after 15 years, our doors will sadly close for the final time on Saturday 15 April (open 11.30 am – 5 pm), when we are inviting everyone to come and say farewell to our little gem of a gallery!
The Gallery’s mission has been to provide a physical platform for the talent of our local artists and makers, a community resource that has become increasingly scarce in recent times. We have had the immense pleasure of displaying the work of several hundred artists and makers over the years, and we are hugely grateful to them and to our customers for 15 years of loyalty and for their ongoing support of the Gallery’s charity fundraising initiatives during that time. In particular, we are immensely proud that we bow out here with a total of just under £20,000 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support in the last 10 years.
Last year we were thrilled to be the recipients of the 2022-23 Muddy Stilettos award for ‘Best Art Space in Sussex’, very kindly voted for by our visitors. With the accolade of being one of the best independent UK small businesses, we are definitely leaving the Gallery on a high!
After a much-needed rest, we’ll be working out if there’s a way forward for the Gallery. To stay in touch, sign up to our newsletter by clicking on the “newsletter” tab and then clicking on the “join our mailing list” button. We’ll keep you posted.
All best wishes
Jill & Sam
