Ceramics: Christiane Kersten & Alison Milner: Artist Statement |

Christiane and Alison both live in West Sussex and have been working
together on this range of printed ceramics since June 2005. They also
design and / or make to commission and would welcome bespoke work from
architects, individuals, shops or larger organisations. Recent joint
commissions include 30 tile triptychs for Project Art and a new
range of Flambé ware for Royal Doulton.
Christiane Kersten was born in Germany, but came to England to study
ceramics, firstly as an apprentice at Taurus Crafts in the Forest
of Dean, and subsequently on a BA 3D design course at
Brighton University (2001). Whilst at college she did a 3 month
exchange with Nagoya University of Arts in Japan and gained a
scholarship from Wedgewood. Since then she has exhibited widely in the
UK and has been selected as a member of Design Nation.
Alison Milner also has a BA in 3D design (1985) and an MA from
the Royal College of Art in Furniture Design. In June 2005 her book
‘Inspirational Objects – A visual dictionary of simple, elegant forms’
was published by A&C Black. Currently Alison has an exhibition of
photographs and vitrines of found objects entitled ‘Inspirational
Objects – Nature as Designer’, which was first shown at the Booth
Museum in Brighton,and is now available to tour (sponsored by the Arts
Council, Brighton and Hove Museums and Spectrum Photographic). Alison
is also a member of Design Nation. |
