Trained to degree level in Fine Art at Chichester University, Rosalyn specialized in textiles and graduated in 2000. This is where she began making rag rugs and has continued the practice of hand made hooked artworks for the floor and as wall hangings with new and contemporary flair ever since. Although the method is technically fairly straightforward, her style is as innovative & versatile as her enthusiasm. Unique concepts and ideas for the method continue to flourish as she expresses her passion for materials and colour in a method which can be described as painting with fabric.

Works are often commissioned to suit specific requirements and Rosalyn's talent tantalizes both the visual and tactile senses. Re-cycled fabrics are widely used which is the traditional method and nowadays environmentally responsible. Rugs can be created that are suitable for the floor, walls, seats, even the garden! She uses a diverse range of colours and materials from luxurious silks and velvets to hardwearing wools, denim and leather and delicate papers, bubble wrap and plastic. The possibilities are exciting and endless.

Each rug is unique and one of the greatest features is the differing textures which she constructs in harmony or contrast to create different sensations and tactile indulgences. The rugs vary in shapes and sizes and the pile is loosely or tightly hooked or sculpted to create greater density and depth. Rosalyn's inspiration flows from worldly travels, reflections of nature and a wealth of imagination which is also encapsulated in her photographic works.
