Artist in Residence 2010: Pippa Chorley

I graduated from University College Falmouth with a First Class BA(Hons) Illustration degree in 2009. Now I am Artist in Residence at The Green Tree Gallery, where I continue my illustration practice by making books, drawings, collages, textile creatures and machine embroideries in my little grotto, The Pipit Nest!

I find inspiration in storytelling, roaming, gypsy caravans, historical costume, puppetry, poetry, woodlands, fairytales and folklore, Chaucer, Shakespeare and period dramas. Characters in striped pantaloons, ruffs, and pointy hats always prance into my work, often bringing rhyming words with them. I am currently hatching plans of colouring books, graphic novels, split pin puppets, paper dolls, and mobiles.

Pippa is in the gallery on Friday afternoons and Saturdays and can be found in her shed on various other days too!
