Visiting Us

For the safety and protection of our customers, we have introduced the following measures:

- Visitor numbers are limited to 4 people at any one time; a bench and sheltered area is available next to the entrance

- Both front and rear doors to the gallery are open - weather permitting - to enable maximum ventilation inside

- Hand sanitiser is available on entering the gallery

- Please follow the one-way floor arrows and maintain appropriate distance from others

- Please try not to handle items unless you wish to purchase, our extra labelling should help

- The front desk has a protective screen and we encourage contactless card payment. Where the amount exceeds the current contactless maximum, we will suggest processing the transaction as if you were paying over phone

About Us

The Green Tree Gallery was founded by two Sussex artists and celebrated its 10th birthday in 2018. It is run on a voluntary basis by textile artists Jill Housby and Samantha Phillips.

The Gallery’s original purpose remains: we are a contemporary art gallery and community platform which showcases unique and affordable work by local artists and craftspeople.

We also offer a carefully curated selection of giftware, cards and toys, the majority of which we source from British designers and makers.

Charity events have always been an important part of the Gallery’s remit, with 10% of takings at exhibition launches donated to local charities, as well as an annual fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Over the years, the Gallery has become a popular destination with a reputation for its ever-changing selection of art and craft work, and for the tranquil and convenient shopping experience it offers to visitors - a world away from the mass-market of the high street.

We are keen supporters of the ‘Shop Local’ and ‘Just A Card’ campaigns.
‘Just A Card’ ( www.justacard.org ) emphasises how invaluable every single purchase is, however small. So whether you buy a piece of original artwork here or ‘just a card’, you are supporting the Gallery as well as our artists.

With free parking right outside the door and neighbouring beautiful Borde Hill Garden and the friendly Café Elvira, do come and visit!

Thank you for your support.
